Jerra Catherine is here!

Our sweet angel decided to make her appearance 3 weeks prior to her due date - she was 37 weeks along to the day! I got up wednesday morning - Jan 10th - after spending the night slighly concerned in a decrease in fetal activity that I had been feeling. I called the Doc's and they told me to come in and get checked out. Feeling only slightly anxious, I got to the doc's around 8:30am. They hooked me up to the monitors and they showed she had a strong heartbeat, and that I was contracting every 9-10 minutes (i was only feeling some of them) and was dilated to a 1. Dr. Benson told me to come back at 1pm and see where things were then. Geoff and I arrived at 1, knowing that I still wasn't feeling her move as much as I ususally did during the day. I got hooked up to the machines again - her heartbeat was still good, but now the contractions were coming every 5-7 minutes and I was dilated to a 4. Dr Benson said, that everything was fine with her, but there was something going on causing the decrease in movements and he advised her immediate delivery. WHAT! After Geoff and I got over our inital shock we made our way to the hospital. I had an uncomplicated c-section, Jerra came out wailing and looking perfect! Geoff was great, he was so supportive of me the entire time. She was born at 5:43pm, weighing 6 lbs 15oz and 18 3/4 inches long. My parents rushed down from Ft Worth and Geoff's dad and becky arrived from Houston. After 2 days in the hospital we came home on Friday. Luckly my mom has been able to stay with us - I don't know how we would have gotten through this first week without her.

She is amazing and its so unreal having her here after all the months of her growing inside of me. We just can't stop staring at her and watching all her facial movements and wonder whats going on inside that little head of hers. Its going to be so much fun watching her grow. We are so in love!
