3 years...

Its been 3 years today! 3 years since our friends and family gathered with us in College Station to celebrate our wedding. It was such a wonderful day, exactly as we wished it to be.

This morning I woke up to a dozen red roses on the table and a sweet card from my amazing husband...and shortly there after our crazy 2 year old woke with the sounds of "mommy...mommy, come here" (how she wakes up every morning) and I was reminded of how blessed we've been over the last 3 years...2 houses, 1 baby and 1 one the way, a few jobs, 3 dogs and most recently our own business and Geoff's newest job. We have had a wonderful and busy 3 years and are looking forward to many more....

Compromise...

Before you get married, a lot of people give you advice. One piece of advice you seem to hear a lot is that "marriage is about compromise."

Well, Geoff and I took that to heart and we made a decision about our sports teams. You see, he grew up in Houston and is a HUGE Astros fan...while I, growing up in DFW am a Cowboys fan. He cares more about the Astros than the Texans and I care more about the Cowboys than Rangers. So we made a compromise. I would become an Astros fan and support his team, while he would become a Cowboys fan and support my team. It works out even better since its both the MLB and NFL and on during different times of the year. So far, neither team has done much in regards to the winning column (although both have come close)...but its still fun to be an Astros/Cowboys fan family.

This year, things are looking even better in this compromise of ours!

Last weekend, our own Texas Aggie Stephen McGee was drafted to the Cowboys! Yay! Go Stephen! Can't wait to see you playing for the Boys!

And this season, my favorite baseball player, Ivan "Pudge" Rodriquez, joined the Astros and so far has been playing exceptionally well! Go Pudge!

See, compromises in marriage DO work!

Easter...finally!

It's taken me a while to get around to posting Easter picts! We have been so busy around here, I just kept putting it off!

We spent Easter up in Grapevine with my folks. Geoff and dad golfed Friday; while J, mom and I shopped. Then Jeff came in from Little Rock late that night. Saturday morning we colored easter eggs with J and she really enjoyed that, then the boys spent the entire day looking at cars (hence the 2 new purchases in the previous post) and Saturday night we went over to our family friends house for a visit. Sunday was raining and yucky outside so we had to have our "hunt" in the house, along with a very yummy Easter lunch. It was a great visit as usual.

Jeff/Geoff's new truck/car!

Geoff and my brother spent Saturday looking at cars....well, really looking at trucks for my brother. 8 hours later, Jeff is the proud owner of a Chevy 4x4 extended cab pickup! I missed getting a picture of it before he left for Arkansas again, but it is a really nice truck and I know he is really happy to finally have the papers signed. (yes, it was an ordeal, why is buying a car such a pain!!!??)

While browsing the dealerships, Geoff found a car that grabbed his attention and just wouldn't let go. We have been talking about getting a new one sometime soon and he has been doing some online comparison shopping, but we were not planning on buying this weekend! He came home Saturday and kept talking about it, and doing more online comparison shopping. Finally Sunday evening we decided he should just go back Monday morning and run the numbers to see what would happen. 2 hours later, he pulls into my folks house with it! Nice! and it is really nice! Now we just have to sell my car.

Easter weekend was great! I will post pictures this afternoon. We hope everyone had a Blessed weekend with their friends/families.

An extra side note - our good friend and J's Godfather, Case - became an uncle for the 3rd time last night as his brother, Josh, and sister in law, Joy, had their 3rd girl! They decided not to find out the gender so it was a surprise for all! Congrats guys!!! Hope all is well with mommy and baby and can't wait to see pictures.

Ice Cream!

J's new favorite thing is ice cream! I was one of those 'no sugar' mommies for almost the 1st 2 years of her life...so this ice cream thing is pretty amazing for her! We usually just indulge in the Homemade Vanilla Blue Bell variety at home...but there is a Maggie Moo's down the street from us and she has discovered a love for the cotton candy flavored with sprinkles...she especially loves how it changes the color of her tongue and that there is a mirror in front of the eating area for her to watch!

Texas Bluebonnets...

Some of my fave picts of the year come from Texas Bluebonnet season! Hopefully there will be more picts coming soon. J loved the flowers this year, unfortunately - all she wanted to do was fall down in them and I was by myself and could not get her attention! I did get this one shot of her taking a moment to smell the flowers!

Easter Egg Hunt at the George Bush library

Every year there is a big easter celebration at the George Bush Library - the easter bunny is there, food and games for the kids and it comes complete with an easter egg hunt (or mad dash, really) for the kiddos. Last year we went and really didn't think J would do much, but she collected eggs like a pro! So, of course we had to go again this past weekend. She once again collected her eggs without any of our help - they blew the whistle and she was off! We actually had to hold her back beforehand!

Getting ready at the field...

JJ is set to go!

and she is off!

Check out her loot!

The morning was fun, I just had tons of other things to do that day as well, so we only stuck around long enough for the egg hunt, then we left. no games or food for us, and J does NOT like people dressed up as 'things', so we stayed away from the easter bunny!
